About

Greetings, I'm Ankur Vora, an artist and filmmaker based in vibrant Mumbai, India, with a deep passion for documentary filmmaking, experimental films, and the mesmerizing world of moving images.

Unearthing Stories

Born in the picturesque town of Bhuj, situated in western India, my cinematic voyage began with the aspiration to unveil hidden narratives and preserve vanishing traditions. One of my earliest works, "Eyes on the Ground," sheds light on the ancient art of tracking footprints in the desert — skills invaluable to intelligence agencies, entrusted to the remarkable tribes known as "PAGI" who vigilantly safeguard the nation's borders.

Awards & Achievements

  • Academy Awards Official Entry — "The Good Road" represented India
  • National Film Award — India's highest film honor
  • BAFTA US Scholarship — DLT Entertainment Scholarship recipient
  • David M. Milch Foundation — Best Documentary, CCNY New York

Inspirations

I draw inspiration from visionary filmmakers such as David Lynch, Martin Scorsese, Ken Burns, Mani Ratnam, and Ram Gopal Varma. Their work has not only influenced my craft but also ignited my passion for using storytelling as a vehicle for transformation.

Current Pursuits

I continue to immerse myself in the world of film and art, actively researching new documentary projects and developing a compelling oral history project. Through these ventures, I aim to inspire change and spark meaningful conversations.
